Log App ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how it is stored when you use our mobile application ("the App").
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect and store the following in Firebase:
- Required: Email address and username.
- Optional: Full name, profile photo, bio, and display preferences such as profile color.
We do not have visibility into your password. Passwords are managed securely by Firebase Authentication and, where applicable, by Apple or Google.
Account Settings
We store your in-app settings in Firebase, including:
- Private account preference
- Recommendation restriction settings
- Muted, blocked, and restricted user lists
Content You Create
The core function of the App is logging and sharing media. When you use the App, we store the following content in Firebase:
- Logs: Media entries you log, including ratings, written reviews, spoiler flags, tags, and associated media references (e.g., movie IDs, show IDs, game IDs, album IDs, song IDs, book keys).
- Favorites: Media items you mark as favorites, including display order and whether they appear on your profile.
- Log Later list: Media items you save to log in the future.
- Polls: Polls you create comparing media options, including vote counts and results.
- Recommendations: Recommendations you send or receive from other users, including sender and recipient usernames and UIDs.
- Recommendation requests: Requests you post asking others for recommendations, including genre, category, and tags.
Social Activity
We store the following social data in Firebase:
- Your following and followers lists (stored as user IDs).
- Likes you give to other users' posts.
- Notifications related to your social activity (likes, follows, recommendations, poll results).
What Is Public vs. Private
Some profile information is always visible to all users of the App (unless you have blocked them): your username, profile photo, full name, bio, following list (who you follow), and aggregate stats such as how many items you have logged per category and your average ratings.
If your account is set to public, or if another user is an approved follower of a private account, they can additionally see your logged items, favorites, accepted recommendations, and Log Later list.
Your followers list (who follows you), muted list, and blocked list are never visible to other users.

- Sign in with Google — when you authenticate via your Google account.
- Email registration — when you create an account directly in the App.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.
4. Third-Party Services

- Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, database storage, and transactional email. See Firebase Privacy Policy.

- Sign in with Google — see Google Privacy Policy.
- Media APIs — we retrieve publicly available media metadata (movies, TV shows, music, books, video games) from third-party data providers including TMDB, IGDB (Twitch), MusicBrainz, Open Library, and JustWatch (via TMDB). No personal data is transmitted to these APIs.
- OpenAI — user-generated content (such as reviews and recommendations) may be submitted to the OpenAI Moderation API to help maintain a safe community environment. Only the text content of submissions is sent; no account identifiers or personal information are included. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
Your account data and all content you have created is stored in Firebase for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our Firebase database. Some residual data may remain in Firebase's infrastructure briefly as part of their standard deletion process.
